27 Sep Starr- 1st blog entry 2015
My last post to this blog was in 2014 when we had just “splashed’ Starr after her extensive refit.
Now STARR is BETTER THAN NEW!
I did not want to make any new posts until I had finished my sea trials. Our sea trials have been 4700nm of running, beginning in May of 2014 (and you can talk to me offline once we arrive in Hawaii if you would like hear about lessons I have learned – what to do and what not to do.
We pulled into Neah Bay last night at 2000, with a full gorgeous moon and calm waters.
We are still finishing up final boat prep to depart on a rhumb line to Hawaii.
We have a great crew on board:
Douglas Cole- an experienced ocean sailor and a CCA member
Douglas MacQuarrie-owner of the Nordhavn 46 Penguin
Plus the regulars: Don and Sharry
We will be heading out this morning into Northerlies of 15-25 knots; our first waypoint will be 43N 128W.
We will try to keep you posted as we practice with our new Iridium Go, using some new technology that Ken Williiams, through his Talkspot Blog (www.talkspot.com), has developed to do direct posts to this blog.

Hi Guys,
Congratulations on completing your sea trials, being ready to go, and
taking off the dock lines!
We heard on the grapevine that you may not be continuing on to the South
Pacific. It’s hard to beat the 50th State, and no doubt your slip at WYC
awaits.
We wish you a smooth passage all the way–and much aloha,
Milt & Judy

Safe travels to Don and Sharry plus the two Dougs! Sounds like a dream crew. Hope the eclipse viewing last night was spectacular from your vantage. Here in Venice the moon never made it in our window. Cheers, Tad and Joyce
